The City of Albany marks personal preparedness this month with an emergency food cook-off challenge. Inspired by The Food Network’s “Chopped” and other TV food contests, we challenge you to create something delicious from the non-gourmet, shelf-stable foods and potable water in your home emergency kits.
Make your own plan for your household and check out plans the City has made in case of an emergency.
Building an emergency kit doesn't have to be hard. You may even have most of the pieces in your home already! We'll guide you through the process.
Stay informed during an emergency. The City uses many tools to get important information out. Sign up today!
Our responsibility to the community
The City of Albany Emergency Management is responsible for coordinating the capabilities our community needs to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and mitigate the effects of disasters and emergencies in our city.
Emergency management is the process of coordinating available resources to combat emergencies effectively, thereby saving lives, avoiding injury, and minimizing economic loss. Today’s emergency management program evolved from the old civil defense and civil preparedness programs of the 1950s-1970s.
Albany Emergency Management is dedicated to helping our citizens prepare. If your group or organization is interested in an emergency management/ preparedness presentation, please contact us.
